12th Know Goa Programme The 12th Know Goa Programme is scheduled to be held from 04th to 18th January, 2020. It is intended for young professionals in the age group of 21 to 30 years who have distinguished themselves in various fields and who have shown an abiding interest in Goa and India. During their visit, the participants will get an opportunity to visit premier educational, cultural, historical and other places of interest, besides interacting with local Goans, elected representatives at all levels, as well as Government dignitaries like Hon’ble Governor of Goa, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Hon’ble Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Hon’ble Commissioner for NRI Affairs, etc. The participants during their visit to New Delhi will get an opportunity to see World Heritage Monuments like the Red Fort, Taj Mahal, etc. The Government of Goa will bear 90% of the total cost of the lowest economy air fare from the home country of the participant to India and back besides entire cost of local travel, accommodation and meals. Applications are solicited from interested youth in the prescribed format. Cultural Heritage - Festivals of India Pushkar Camel Fair (November 4-12, 2019) This is a traditional camel fair that takes place in a desert town called Pushkar in Rajasthan. More than 30,000 camels will be showcased for trading. To make things interesting, many events will be conducted. Camel beauty contest is the best of all. Came racing, camel parade, fairs, stalls and many other interesting events can be noted. By evening, people will gather around a bonfire and celebrate with dancing and folk songs.

Ka Pomblang Nongkrem, Shillong, Mehalaya (November 4-8, 2019) The Eastern Indian celebrations are usually hidden gems in the land. This festival takes place for five days where the village people pray for the peace of the land. This ceremony’s highlights are goat sacrifice, rituals, dance performances and sword dance. This festival takes place in Smit near Shillong and the festival is grandly celebrated by Khasi tribe of the region. This festival is dedicated to Goddess KaBleiSynshar and technically, this is a harvest festival. Early in the morning, the womenfolk conduct the maiden dance and then the young lads start the Nongkrem dance with swords and spears. Later, music performances with drums and pipes are conducted. The first three days are for rituals. The fourth day is for cultural performances and the fifth day is the ending ceremonial prayer.

PM Modi had encouraged people to share the stories of inspiring women in their society and neighbourhood who have struggled through odds to set an example for others. In a video, actress Deepika Padukone and Shuttler PV Sindhu also appealed to people to welcome Diwali with sharing the inspiring the stories of India’s ‘Laxmis’, who have enlightened the lives of others with the hashtag #BharatKiLaxmi. India rises up 14 ranks to 63rd place in World Bank 'Doing Business' list India jumped 14 ranks to 63rd position in the World Bank's 'Doing Business' list released on Thursday and was also among the top-10 progress-making countries according to the multilateral agency in terms of ease of doing business. The World Bank report said: "Doing Business acknowledges the 10 economies that improved the most on the ease of doing business after implementing regulatory reforms. In Doing Business 2020, the 10 top improvers are Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Togo, Bahrain, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Kuwait, China, India, and Nigeria.".
